Sonoma Valley’s Ledson Winery & Vineyards (www.ledson.com) and Zina Hyde Cunningham (www.zinawines.com) continue to bring home the accolades during the 2015 award season.

The biggest win thus far comes from the 2015 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition in San Diego, CA. The Ledson 2013 Russian River Chardonnay ($38) won Best of Show (White), Best of Class (Chardonnay), 94 Points and a Platinum Medal at the recent Winemaker Challenge.

“Everyone was captivated by the structure of the chardonnay”, enthused Robert Whitley, Director of the Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition.

“I don’t get too many Chardonnays passing my desk that have this kind of acidity. This will cut the thickest white sauce based meals with ease while delivering tart apple, lemon and mild fresh herb tones and a touch of flint. This has the structure for aging, and I see it benefitting with at least three years more in bottle”, said Rich Cook, Assistant Director of the Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition in the WineReviewOnline.

The Ledson 2012 Sonoma Valley ‘Estate’ Barbera ($46) also received Best of Class (Barbera), 91 Points and a Gold Medal from the Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition, while the Ledson 2012 Sonoma Valley ‘Ancient Vine’ Zinfandel Reserve ($88) scored 90 Points and a Gold Medal.

At the 2015 North of the Gate Wine Competition the Zina Hyde Cunningham 2012 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir ($60) received a Double Gold Medal and the Ledson 2012 Russian River Valley ‘Old Vine’ Zinfandel ($36) brought back a Gold Medal.
