Saturday May 7 at
JACK LONDON STATE HISTORIC PARK
Explore the concept of “Walking Meditation” Saturday May 7 during a relaxed 1.5 mile moderate hike to Jack London’s lake at Jack London State Historic Park, then, you can extend your mindful experience another 3 miles. Hike guide and Park docent Jeff Falconer will begin the journey with a brief overview of Walking Meditation, followed by a short standing meditation to ground and center the group before embarking. Walking Meditation has been practiced for centuries in many parts of the world. It has been used as a healing tool by many spiritual and religious traditions and is enjoyed by many who simply want to commune with nature and deepen their experience of the outdoors. Given how much Jack London loved the land that is now the Park, this seems a fitting way to understand what he might have experienced on one of his many walks on the property.
