New Behavioral Health Campus Opens In Sonoma County
An "everything under one roof" concept is the goal to make services more convenient for residents.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – The Sonoma County Department of Health Services relocated its Behavioral Health programs to a single campus in Santa Rosa -- a move intended to allow for multiple services and increased accessibility to locals, according to officials.
“Having a single location dedicated to behavioral health services in Sonoma County is a huge win for our residents,” said District 3 Supervisor Shirlee Zane, who led the relocation efforts. “Multiple services will be located in one place, which will improve care coordination and provide a better overall experience for clients.”
- Behavioral Health Services moved to 2225-2255 Challenger Way in Santa Rosa.
- Adult Mental Health Services moved to 2235 and 2245 Challenger Way.
- Substance Use Disorders moved to 2255 Challenger Way.
- Goodwill Industries of Redwood Empire Wellness Center moved to 2245 Challenger Way.
The plan for a combined Behavioral Health Campus began in 2012 to better serve county clients. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the final phase of the Behavioral Health Campus late last year as a strategic priority to strengthen the county’s safety net services.

A Behavioral Health Campus will improve service quality, according to DHS Director Barbie Robinson. The Department will be able to provide additional support for those with complex needs and improve access and ease of use for patients in recovery from mental illness or substance abuse disorders.
“This model of co-location and integration of services has been shown to enhance the continuity of care for service users that ultimately result in improved outcomes,” Robinson said.

Supervisor James Gore, Chairman of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, said the new site, close to Highway 101 and Highway 12, is an accessible location for residents living in outlying regions.
“One of the goals we identified years ago was the importance of having a single location for behavioral health services and placing it in an area where a majority of our residents could access these services,” Gore said. “Additionally, there will be smaller models of an integrated service center in Guerneville for West County and Petaluma in South County.”
