North Bay Woman Sentenced In Crash That Killed 18-Year-Old Friend

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A Santa Rosa woman was sentenced to four years in prison Thursday for a vehicular crash that killed her friend in January.

Rebecca Iris Guillory, 18, pleaded guilty to felony vehicle manslaughter with gross negligence. The New Year's Day crash into a tree on Mountain Hawk Drive killed 18-year-old Michajla Bailey Kostecka, a passenger
in the front seat of Guillory's Chevrolet Cavalier.

Guillory was driving more than 60 mph in the 25 mph zone, according to Santa Rosa police. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI but was not charged with that offense but she was not legally impaired.

Guillory was arrested for speeding in the East Bay on Halloween 2016 when her blood alcohol level also was below the limit considered impaired.

Guillory faced six years in prison Thursday. In imposing the four-year-term, Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Patrick Broderick called attention to Guillory's pattern of speeding and driving while at least
somewhat impaired.
