Northern California Wildfires Near Containment

Firefighters continue to extinguish hot spots and perform fire suppression repair work.

NORTH BAY, CA -- Crews are drawing ever nearer to complete containment of all four of the fires that have been raging in the North Bay, Cal Fire said Sunday.

The nearly three-week Atlas fire, which burned more than 51,000 acres and destroyed homes in Napa County and caused evacuations in west Solano County, was fully contained as of Friday, according to Cal Fire.

The Tubbs Fire, which claimed the lives of 22 people, destroyed about 5,300 structures and burned about 36,807 acres, is 98 percent contained, Cal Fire said today.

The Pocket Fire, which burned 17,357 acres, is now 98 percent contained, Cal Fire said.

The Nuns Fire, which burned 56,556 acres, is also 98 percent contained now, according to Cal Fire. This fire destroyed an estimated 1,200 structures, and killed one civilian and one private water tender operator, Cal Fire said.

Firefighters continue to extinguish hot spots and perform fire suppression repair work, Cal Fire said. As a cooldown is ushered in this week, firefighters will continually prepare for potential fire activity throughout California.
