Pedestrian Hit By Golf Cart At Sonoma Raceway; DUI Suspected: CHP
The pedestrian was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries; the golf cart driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
SONOMA, CA — A Redwood City woman is accused of DUI causing injury in an incident on a golf cart Sunday at Sonoma Raceway, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol. The incident happened at about 5:21 p.m. Sunday as Bethany Garcia, 41, was driving an E-Z-GO golf cart in Parking Lot D of the raceway and had her young daughter on her lap, said CHP Officer Marc Renspurger.
A 46-year-old woman from Carson City, Nevada was walking in the parking lot when Garcia made an "unsafe turning movement" and drove the golf cart directly into the Nevada woman, Renspurger said.
The Nevada woman suffered major injuries and was flown by CHP helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Renspurger said.

Garcia was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury and booked into Sonoma County jail.
The collision remains under investigation, but it is believed Garcia's "intoxicated state" led to her making the unsafe turning movement and colliding with the pedestrian, Renspurger said.
