Local man reports identity stolen; unknown suspects buy $3200 of merchandise with stolen card, attempt to obtain new credit lines

A mountain bike valued at almost $2,000 was reported stolen from a residency's unlocked, detached garage on Claudia Drive. The residency's owners said they were on vacation when the theft occurred.

A Sonoma man reported at 12:56 p.m. being victimized by identity theft. An unknown suspect or suspects reportedly obtained the man's credit card, identification card and his social security number, and used his information to charge up $3200 of purchases in Manteca, CA. An investagation by Manteca authorities subsequently revealed that the man's information had been used in an unsuccessful attempt to obtain additional credit lines at department stores in that city.
