Sonoma County Grants Expand Support For Local Arts

SONOMA VALLEY, CA — Artists and cultural organizations based in Sonoma County seeking funding for projects and arts events will have a new opportunity to apply for grant money next month.

Applications for Creative Sonoma's Arts Impact Grants for Organizations program will open on Aug. 14, the county said Wednesday.

The program is run through the Sonoma County Economic Development Collaborative and offers $4,000 for general operating support for a range of eligible events.

Some of last year's recipients included the Children's Museum of Sonoma County, Healdsburg Jazz Festival, Valley of the Moon Music Festival, and the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center.

The program has awarded nearly 200 grants to over 70 organizations since it was created in 2021 to support Sonoma County' creative community and entrepreneurs, according to Creative Sonoma.

Eligible organizations will be those with arts events scheduled to be held in calendar year 2027. The deadline to apply is Oct. 1 of this year.

"Investing in our nonprofit arts organizations ensures that every community across Sonoma County has access to the enriching and transformative power of creativity," said Rebecca Hermosillo, District 1 representative on the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. "By providing these general operating grants, we are sustaining the diverse cultural fabric that makes our county a more healthy, dynamic, inclusive, and rewarding place to live."
