Sonoma County Update: In Custody Death Inmate Identified
The inmate's name will not be released until the next of kin is notified.

The female inmate decedent has been identified as Amber Marcotte, 34 years old, Santa Rosa.

On July 10, Marcotte was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and booked into the Sonoma County jail (MADF).
There were no signs of a physical altercation. The investigation is ongoing as to what caused Marcotte's death.

One inmate dies while in custody, and a second inmate is hospitalized for a medical emergency.
Sonoma County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of an inmate. A second inmate was transported to an area hospital for a medical emergency.
At 4:28 am, an ambulance was requested by jail personnel for a female inmate who was having a medical emergency. Within a few minutes, a second ambulance was requested for an unresponsive female inmate. Both female inmates shared a cell.
Deputies and fire personnel rendered medical aid to the unresponsive female inmate. At 5:20 am, medical personnel pronounced the female dead. The second female remains in the hospital.
Sheriff's detectives have notified the Napa County Medical Examiner's Office, who will be handling the coroner's duties, including an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The inmate's name will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
