Sonoma Music Festival to Raise the Roof at Sebastiani
Big Brother and the Holding Co., Tommy Thomsen, Creation and Frobeck among groups on stage in two nights of fund-raising musical fun.
The Sebastian Theater may look like Hollywood this weekend, but next Friday and Saturday it's going to look more like Austin one night, San Francisco the next.
The new Sonoma Music Festival will be presenting this two-night fundraiser, April 19 and 20 at the Sebastiani Theater. Both Friday and Saturday concerts are fundraisers for The Sebastiani Theater Foundation and Pet’s Lifeline.
The Music Festival is the production of two local musical notables. One is Roy Blumenfeld, one of the founding member of The Blues Project, co-founder of Seatrain and sometime drummer with Electric Flag.

Joining Blumenfeld as co-producer is Sonoma resident Kurt Krauthamer, entrepreneur and member of the Rett Hamer Blues Band. They put on the first modest Sonoma Music Festival last August.
Together the duo's goals are to bring the community together in fundraising efforts while showcasing the best and most diverse local and national entertainers within each event.

The Friday April 19th show opens with the Sonoma-based Sean Carscadden Quartet whose musical mix ranges from New Orleans Blues to Soul and Jazz. Next up, the Pine Needles bring "jam-grass" (think David Grisman) to the stage. Ringing down the curtain is the famed Tommy Thomsen All Star Band, performing Western Swing and rockabilly.
Saturday, April 20th opens with local funk and rock luminaries Frobeck, followed by the Bay Area’s reggae band Creation, whose members include the co-founder of Jamaica's legendary Soul Syndicate and others who performed with Bob Marley.
Rounding out the Saturday night show will be Big Brother and The Holding Company, a local and national act of 60’s fame and best known as Janis Joplin’s first band in San Francisco.
Tickets are $25 per event, each show will feature one national act and two local headlining local bands, on stage at the Sebastiani Theater from 6-11 p.m. Due to space limitation the shows are anticipated to sell out early, so buy tickets online as soon as possible at sonomamusicfestival.org.
