Sonoma Valley Weekend Planner for Oct. 5-7

Need something to do this weekend? Here are a few things Patch has for your consideration

If football and postseason baseball aren't your thing, check out what the Sonoma Valley has to offer this weekend:

- Big weekend for fans of classic rock at B.R. Cohn for their annual Saturday and Sunday. The Doobie Brothers and the Turtles play both days; Saturday War and Buddy Guy show up, and Michael McDonald joins the Doobies; on Sunday Dave Mason and Kenny Loggins (who co-wrote "What a Fool Believes" with McDonald) are in the line-up. "It's all for charity," says Bruce Cohn.

- Dan Daniels and Nicky DePaola have been entertaining all over the Bay Area with a sound described as "jazz with a smidge of Motown,"  and were voted best lounge act two years in a row by Reno Magazine. Virtuoso musician Daniels has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Lou Rawls, Earth, Wind and Fire, Tower of Power and the New Temptations to name a few. Free of charge Friday at the Ledson Hotel's "Centre du Vin" at 7 p.m.

- Half-day Fall Guided Nature Walks at Bouverie Preserve explore the 535-acre, private, non-profit nature preserve. Participants are divided into small groups and paired with a trained Bouverie volunteer to explore the mixed evergreen forest, oak woodlands and rugged chaparral.  The walks range from two to five miles. This is a great opportunity to explore this preserve, which is only open to the public on a limited basis throughout the year.

Visitors of all ages are welcome. There is no fee for the program, but a $15 contribution is suggested and appreciated. Contributions support the preservation, nature education and conservation science programs of Audubon Canyon Ranch. Reservations are required. The hike starts at 9:30 a.m. and the preserve is located at 13935 Hwy 12, Glen Ellen.
