Tinted Windows Lead To Arrest, Seizure Of 1,600 Pounds Of Pot

The 33 year old driver was arrested on suspicion of transportation of marijuana for sale.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA - Tinted windows on a pickup truck led to the seizure of 1,600 pounds of marijuana near Cloverdale Thursday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

A CHP K-9 unit stopped a white Chevrolet pickup truck with tinted front windows that was hauling a 15-foot-long trailer south on U.S. Highway 101 south of state Highway 128 in unincorporated Sonoma County around 3:30 p.m., CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat said.

The fully enclosed trailer, driven by Christopher Potter, 33, of Ukiah, had a padlock on the rear doors and on a small side door, Sloat said.

The CHP officer smelled marijuana while talking to Potter and the K-9 detected the aroma of marijuana on the right front of the trailer, Sloat said.

Potter was arrested on suspicion of transportation of marijuana for sale when the CHP officer opened the rear trailer door to find large plastic garbage bags containing more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana, Sloat said.
