UPDATE In Time For Evening Commute: Hwy 37 Reopens

A jackknifed big-rig was blocking traffic for miles.

NORTH BAY, CA - State Highway 37 on Mare Island in Vallejo has reopened this afternoon after the eastbound lanes were closed when a tractor-trailer jackknifed shortly after noon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 12:06 p.m. near the Walnut Avenue off-ramp. The eastbound lanes were closed in the area until around 3 p.m., CHP officials said. Traffic was backed up several miles and drivers were trying to bypass the scene on the right shoulder of eastbound Highway 37.

The CHP diverted traffic onto state Highway 121 and some drivers turned around and drove west on eastbound Highway 37, according to the CHP.
