Victim In Fatal Sonoma Co. Motorcycle Crash Identified

Breaking: The Harley-Davidson rider died Sunday on Highway 121, California Highway Patrol reported.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- The Sonoma County coroner's office has identified a motorcyclist who died in a collision with a vehicle Sunday afternoon as Armando Fabila, 50, of Pleasant Hill.

Fabila was riding south on state Highway 121 near Wagner Road in unincorporated Sonoma County near Schellville around 12:50 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 61-year-old man from Purcellville, Virginia, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu east toward Highway 121 on a private driveway at the Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards located at 23555 Arnold Dr., CHP officials said.

The Chevy driver stopped at the intersection of Highway 121 and saw a southbound vehicle turning into the private driveway. He thought the intersection was clear and began turning onto northbound Highway 121 directly into the path of Fabila's southbound 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, CHP officials said.

Fabila applied his brakes but could not avoid a collision with the Chevy, according to the CHP. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
