Woman Hides While Intruder Searches Senior’s Room During Sonoma Break-In: Report

SONOMA VALLEY, CA — A senior living facility resident hid under her covers while an intruder searched her bedroom closet and living area during an early morning break-in in Sonoma, according to reports.

The resident alerted police from Cogir of Sonoma on Oregon Street after the intruder entered a first-floor unit, the Sonoma Index-Tribune reported.

Authorities said Angel Mendoza-Saavedra, 25, of El Verano, removed a window screen to gain access to the unit, according to the Sonoma Index-Tribune.

Surveillance footage captured Mendoza-Saavedra attempting to enter multiple doors and windows before the break-in, the Sonoma Index-Tribune reported.

Sonoma Police officers arrested Mendoza-Saavedra near the property within twenty minutes of the initial emergency call, according to the Sonoma Index-Tribune.

Authorities booked Mendoza-Saavedra into county jail on suspicion of felony residential burglary and probation violations, according to the Sonoma Index-Tribune.
