Kitchen closure won't halt Sonora Senior Center meals (uniondemocrat.com) — Sonora seniors relying on the Senior Center’s lunches and Meals on Wheels will still get their food even as the main kitchen closes for four weeks of floor repairs starting Monday. Staff will shift cooking to a smaller kitchen, mix in some cold options, and keep suggested contributions at $5 per meal without turning anyone away for inability to pay.

Tuolumne County employees plan informational pickets amid stalled labor negotiations (uniondemocrat.com) — Tuolumne County employees represented by Operating Engineers Local 3 will hold informational pickets Monday on North Washington Street in downtown Sonora and Tuesday outside the County Administration Center as stalled contract talks continue. Workers say four years without raises, rising health costs, and high vacancy rates are straining services, while supervisors point to budget limits despite talk of a surplus.
   

3. Wildcats grind out gridiron win over Knights on the road (uniondemocrat.com) — Sonora High football fans can celebrate a strong 28-7 road win over Ripon Christian, powered by quarterback Jeremy Snyder’s three rushing touchdowns and a stout Wildcat defense. The team now turns its attention to hosting Hilmar at Dunlavy Field next Friday, giving local supporters another chance to pack the stands.
   

4. Stanislaus responds to the lightning-caused Piute Fire (usda.gov) — Residents and outdoor enthusiasts around Sonora should know the Stanislaus National Forest is fully suppressing the lightning-caused Piute Fire, a small 6–7-acre blaze near Lake Piute in the Emigrant Wilderness. Smoke may be visible from Hull Creek, Dodge Ridge, and Highway 108, and visitors are urged to watch for fire crews and changing conditions in the area.
