1 Man Dead, Another Detained In Shooting Outside South Gate Bar

SOUTH GATE, CA — A man was shot and killed Friday outside a bar in South Gate and a person of interest was detained.

The shooting was reported about 3 a.m. in the 5800 block of Imperial Highway, according to the South Gate Police Department.

The location was just outside the entrance to Auggie's Bar & Grill at 5810 Imperial Highway, according to the department watch commander.

Both the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics, and the detained individual were men whose ages were not immediately available, the watch commander said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau detectives were summoned and would take charge of the investigation, the lieutenant said.
