City Council to Consider Restricting Skateboarding on Sidewalks

The City Council will consider prohibiting the use of skateboards on the sidewalks of its business districts.

Today’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. will be taking up several topics of high interest in South Gate. Here are three of them:

1) The will hold a public hearing that will consider adding the U.S Post Office located 3270 on Firestone Boulevard to the South Gate Register of Culturally Significant Landmarks.

2)The City Council will consider an ordinance that would prohibit the riding of skateboards on any of the sidewalks located in business districts within the city of South Gate, such as the Tweedy Mile.

3) The City Council will consider authorizing the purchase of two speed back signs,  that are to be located on both directions of Garfield Avenue, between Southern Avenue and Imperial Highway. The council will also contemplate using $40,000 from the Gas Tax Balance to cover the costs of this project.
