Ricardo Lara Linear Park is a one-mile-long park that was once an unused strip of land against the 105 freeway. It is named after current California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, who helped the City of Lynwood fund the park when he served as a State Assemblymember.

The park includes a walking trail, fitness stations, two children’s playgrounds, two dog parks, a community garden and community art.
The Ricardo Lara Linear Park was recognized by the Southern California Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects with the “ASLA SoCA Honor Award.” It also won the Urban Land Institute’s Community Impact Ward as one of five international parks considered for the award, which recognizes open and transformative spaces that promote healthy, sustainable and equitable outcomes in their communities.
