One of the most important institutions in Lynwood is the St. Francis Medical Center which was established in 1945. The original five-story hospital was built in 1944 on a 14-acre campus next to the Lynwood City Park.

Much has changed in the 76 years since the hospital opened, but St. Francis is still in its original location providing medical care and emergency services to residents across the region.
