City Of South Gate: Construction Alert-Imperial Highway

Construction activities are scheduled to begin on Imperial Highway on February 22, 2021, and be completed Spring of 2021. Construction will take place between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The proposed improvements include pavement rehabilitation, concrete repairs, street furniture, lighting and landscaping. These improvements are necessary to rehabilitate and beautify Imperial Highway from Los Angeles River to Ryerson Avenue.

PLEASE ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING SAFETY TIPS:

Be patient and expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

Slow down and watch for workers, heavy equipment, pedestrians and cyclists.

Avoid mobile phone use when driving through the construction zone.

Watch for lane closures, use alternate routes and follow detours.

Do not climb or enter areas where crews are working or materials and equipment are stored.

Remember, this is a short-term inconvenience for a long-term community benefit.
