The COVID-19 public health emergency is not over. In Lynwood, as of Sunday June 7, 770 cases have been reported. The City has been increasing by about 20 cases per day in the last week.

“We need to remember to be very careful,” said City Manager Jose Ometeotl. “This health emergency is not over.”

COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly through close contact from person-to-person. Some people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus.

The best protection against COVID-19 continues to be:

  • to wash your hands frequently
  • avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • self-isolate if you are sick
  • practice physical distancing
  • wear a clean face covering when in contact with others from outside your household
  • Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19 illness.

    In LA County, nearly 64,000 cases and 2,645 deaths have been reported as of Sunday.
