Fire at Cypress Avenue Apartment

Two firemen sustained minor injuries.

Last Sunday, at approximately 4:02 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) responded to a call of fire occurring at an apartment in 8127 Cypress Avenue. The cause of the fire still unknown, and authorities do not suspect foul play.

“It was accidental in nature,” said a spokesperson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  “It was electrical accident type fire.“

The fire department estimates that the cost of damage to the building was $175 with the damage to the content inside the apartment being $50,000. 

“There was a lot of smoke and heat damage in the apartment,” said the LACoFD spokesperson. “Smoke and fire was visible from the window upon arrival.”

The residents of the apartment were unhurt, and were provided temporary housing by the Red Cross.  However, two male firefighters were hurt with minor injuries as they battled the blaze.
