Local Fitness Center Experiences Large Increase in Membership
The recent improvements are said to have enticed more residents to join as members.

The new and improved South Gate fitness center is very popular with residents. Its membership has increased from approximately 200 to 600 members since the improvements were finished
“We are pleased because this shows that this was something the community need it,” said Director of Parks and Recreation for the city of South Gate. “In the 30 years that I have been involved in this business I have never seen this turnout.”

The fitness center, which is located at the South Gate Park’s Sports Center is equipped with new treadmills, weight room, exercise bikes, and other high end fitness equipment.
The total cost for the improvements was around $120,000. The money that was allocated came from the park enhancement investment fund. The latter is the fund that the city keeps from the rent that Goals Soccer Center pays every year.

The fitness center was built to help residents address some of the health concerns that they may have.
“The success of the fitness center is important because it allows residents to have an opportunity in getting healthier,” said Adams.
The gym is far from being full and Adams encourages more residents to join as members.
“We have long way to go before we reach our capacity,” said Adams. “We have the capacity for 1500 members.”
