Local Marijuana Dispensary To be Closed
The establishment will be closed by the end of May, said the City Attorney.

The city of South Gate has reached a settlement with the Los Angeles Caregivers Resource Center (LACRC), a local marijuana dispensary that is located on 5720 Imperial Highway, which would require the business to cease its operations.
“We found that the dispensary had failed to seek a proper permit when it opened for business,” said Raul Salinas, South Gate’s City Attorney. “The city filed a lawsuit to shut them down.”

LACRC agreed to close its operations by the end of May, while the lawsuit is pending, as well as to pay a reimbursement of $20,000 for the attorneys' fees sustained by South Gate during the process.
“The city got what it thought it would get, as as result of the prosecution,” said Salinas.

The Mayor of South Gate, Bill De Witt, expressed approval over the result. Further adding, that the city would not have allowed this establishment to operate even if they had properly applied for a permit.
“We would have never issued a permit,” said De Witt. “We have prohibitions on that.”
LACRC did not respond to our requests for an interview.
