We are living in unprecedented times. Positive cases of COVID-19 are rising rapidly with 1,347 cases in Lynwood and 105,507 cases in Los Angeles County as of July 1.

We were on the road of recovery, but the resurgence of cases makes it necessary to put a hold on some of the recent openings and affects the upcoming weekend.

Normally the 4th of July holiday weekend is a time for friends and family to gather and celebrate our country. Unfortunately, the risk of spreading COVID-19 at parties and gatherings is much too dangerous. Therefore, the City of Lynwood is taking the following precautions:

  • Closing all City parks from dusk today (July 2) until Tuesday morning (July 7).
  • Cancelling the annual Lynwood fireworks show

    • This comes of the heels of Governor Newsom’s orders to close the following businesses and services for at least the next three weeks in Los Angeles County, which includes Lynwood:

  • Bars, wineries and tasting rooms
  • In-dining for restaurants (outside dining, takeout and delivery are permitted)
  • Movie Theaters
  • Entertainment Centers
  • Zoos and Museums
  • Cardrooms

    • As a community, we can slow the spread of COVID-19, but we have to work together. It is always best to stay at home, but if you must go out in public, please take the following safety precautions:

  • Wear a mask in public
  • Practice social distancing – at least six feet apart
  • Wash your hands
  • Don’t touch your face
  • Do not attend gatherings or parties

    • We know the sacrifices you are making during this pandemic. If we work together, we can curb the virus’ spread but if we don’t, it will continue to be with us longer and all of our sacrifices will be greater.
