Lynwood's Holiday Parade is Coming to Town
The 92nd annual Cane Lane Parade is scheduled for Dec. 6. This year's theme is "A Hometown Christmas."

Lynwood residents might want to grab their lawn chairs and blankets and prepare to find themselves a spot along the route for this year’s Cane Lane Christmas Parade scheduled for Dec. 6.
This year’s parade is the 92nd annual event and this year’s theme “A Hometown Christmas.”
The parade is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. It will feature “an array of homegrown superstars such as the Lynwood High School’s Lady Knights Varsity Girls Basketball Team who will be serving as Parade Marshals, and Janney ‘Chiquis’ Rivera, who will be serving as the parade’s 2013 Grand Marshal,” organizers wrote.

“Chiquis this year takes the baton of serving as Grand Marshal. Over the last 10 years, several members of the famous Rivera family have served as marshals in the parade, including Jenni, but this year, it’s Chiquis’ turn and however bittersweet taking the baton is, she’s honored and humbled to carry it,” organizers wrote in a news release.
Lynwood High School’s Varsity Girls Basketball Team, the Lady Knights, brought home the first CIF State Championship Title in 10 years, officials said.
“Our Candy Cane Lane Parade is a tradition. So when you have local businesses and families giving what they could despite the economy to help keep the parade going when it faced being cut due to budget cuts, that’s when it became a real hometown parade annual Candy Cane Lane Christmas Parade is more homegrown than ever,” said Rosie Carillo, a Recreation Superintendent with Lynwood.
