COMPTON (CNS) - A 23-year-old man was charged today with murder for
allegedly running down a man with whom he had argued at a party in Lynwood.
Anthony Hernandez pleaded not guilty this afternoon in Compton Superior
Court to the slaying of Ivan Torres, 25, of Inglewood.

The criminal complaint includes the allegation that Hernandez personally
used a deadly and dangerous weapon -- an automobile -- in the commission of
the crime.
Torres, 25, of Inglewood, was struck in the 11100 block of Linden Street, just north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at 3:53 a.m. Sunday, according to sheriff's Sgt. Pauline Panis.

County fire paramedics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced
dead.
Homicide detectives said Torres argued with Hernandez at a party at a house in the 11100 block of Linden Street. Hernandez allegedly got into his car later and deliberately ran down Torres, according to Panis.
Hernandez was jailed on $1 million bail while awaiting his next court date Nov. 13.
