Man Riding Bike Shot, Killed in Compton
Witnesses said the man was apparently riding a bicycle along Caldwell Street when an unknown suspect shot him multiple times in the torso.

COMPTON, CA - A man in his 20s has been killed in a Compton shooting, but the circumstances remain unclear, authorities said.
It occurred at 5:20 p.m. in the 400 block of West Caldwell Street, Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau said.
Deputies initially responded to reports of an "assault with a deadly weapon" involving a gunshot victim, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Upon arrival, the deputies found the man lying in the middle of the street, Jansen said.

The victim -- whose identity was withheld -- was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Rodriguez said.
