Man Shot, Killed Walking Down Nestor Avenue in Compton

Witnesses say a dark sedan stopped and a passenger stepped out and fire several rounds at the man, striking him multiple times.

COMPTON, CA - A man was shot and killed as he walked down a street in Compton, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 7:38 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Nestor Avenue, said Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Witnesses said the man, believed to be in his 30s, was walking on South Nestor when a dark four-door sedan pass by, then stopped, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

One passenger exited the vehicle and fired several times at the man, striking him multiple times.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Rodriguez said.

Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.
