Local Politicians and Religious Leaders Celebrate National Day of Prayer

Short prayers and musical performances were carried out on the steps of City Hall.

Early this afternoon, religious leaders from local churches carried out this year’s National Day of Prayer at the steps of City Hall.

 Local officials and residents also took part in this event to commemorate the role of prayer in American culture and to celebrate freedom of religion.

Mayor Bill De Witt expressed his approval of the ceremony by citing the important role that churches have in South Gate.

“Churches are part of the fabric of our community,” said De Witt. “They are here all year round and help bind us together.”
