Investigators Ask For the Public’s Help in Borboa Shooting

The Sheriff's homicide bureau has leads, but is asking for help.

The killing of Roxy Borboa, 16, by a stray bullet on the morning of March 21st is still being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department.  Borboa was killed while riding  as a passenger in a car south of Dakota Avenue with Gardendale Street, at around 9:30 p.m. the previous night. She died at St. Francis Medical Center at 3:25 a.m.

“We have information that there was a conflict between two groups,” said Lieutenant Mike Rosson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department's Homicide Bureau, who heads the team in charge of the case. “The vehicle that Barboa was a passenger in was shot at, and she was struck.”

No arrests have been made, but investigators claim to have clues.

“We do have leads that we are working on,” said Lt. Rosson.“The investigation is continuing. “

Despite their stated progress, investigators are urging residents to help with the case. 

“We are asking for help from the community,” said Lt. Rosson. “ Anybody who knows anything should contact the sheriff’s homicide bureau.”
