Paramedic Injured in Late Night Crash
The paramedic was injured by a drunk driver at the intersection of Imperial Avenue and Amery Avenue.

SOUTH GATE (CNS) - A Los Angeles County paramedic responding to a call suffered minor injuries when his vehicle was sideswiped at a South Gate intersection by a pickup truck driven by a motorist under the influence, police said.
The accident collision occurred on Imperial Highway at Amery Avenue around 10 p.m. Sunday, when the paramedic's truck was making a U-turn, said South Gate police Sgt. Jonathan Sekiya.

"The pickup truck sideswiped the paramedic unit,'' Sekiya said. "The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and the paramedic was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and released.''
Paramedic units are utility-type pickup trucks with a driver and passenger, both paramedics. The injured paramedic was the driver, he said. The trucks carry paramedics' supplies; patients are transported in separate ambulances.
