Sergeant Jonathan Fekiya told South Gate Patch Latino that the SGPD, along with the 5 other agencies, gave out a total of 33 citations.

The majority of traffic tickets handed, 21 in total, were for speeding,

The remaining tickets that were given out included 5 for unsafe loads, 4 for phone usage while driving, and 3 for not using seatbelts. There were also a total of 8 cars that were impounded during the crackdown.

South Gate was not the only city that the coalition cracked down on. Members of the coalition patrolled the areas surrounding schools in Huntington Park on Wednesday morning.

As result of this, the SGPD gave a total of 14 traffic tickets during this crackdown, according to Sergeant Fekiya of the SGPD.

Sgt. Perez believes that the nine month old the coalition is a big success and helpful for all the agencies involved.

“We all face the same problems,” said Sgt. Perez. “Resources are limited and in working together we can accomplish the same goal with more officers.”
