Rose Hills Celebrates 4th Annual Dia de los Muertos Cultural Festival

People young and old will be celebrating the traditions of Día de los
Muertos at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary as they host the 4th
Annual Día de los Muertos Cultural Festival.  The free family event takes
place Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the SkyRose
Chapel.   This unique cultural eventrespectfully remembers those who have passed while it celebrates and honors the rich traditions and heritage of Día de los Muertos with all generations.

This year, the festival continues to feature activities for everyone, including an art exhibit inside the SkyRose Chapel showcasing the talents of various local renowned local artists who will be sharing some of their Día de los Muertos inspired artwork.   There will be a dedicated arts & crafts
area for children with mini workshops and interactive activities; a food court
with delicious items from various vendors; a vendor area featuring Día de los Muertos themed arts and crafts; a full program of performances and entertainment including Paso de Oro’s Aztec dance group that will lead a ceremonial procession, and local dancers from Tierra Blanca Dance Company, Mariachi Trompetas de Mexico, and a special closing performance by the band Cambalache.   In addition, families are invited to create their own altars and enter the community altar contest.  Altars are an integral part of the celebration.
