South Gate Police Arrest Shoplifter at Walgreens

The suspect was apprehended after a pursuit on foot.

The South Gate Police Department (SGPD has informed Patch Latino that a suspect was arrested on Saturday, July 7, 2012,  in connection with an attempted robbery at the Walgreen’s on Long Beach Boulevard and Tweedy Boulevard.

“The suspect attempted walk out the door with concealed merchandise” said Lieutenant Frank “Pico” Rivera, who added that personnel attempted to stop the alleged robber. “The suspect became combative with store personnel which facilitated his escape.”

The SGPD was at the scene within minutes and witnessed the suspect fleeing. Officers resorted to chasing him via foot.

“The suspect was captured and taken into custody,” said Lieutenant Rivera. “[He] is now facing possible prison [time] with a felony charge.”

The suspect is being accused of stealing 3 boxes of men’s razors and for being combative with Walgreen’s personnel when trying to escape.
