South Gate Police: Carries Out Bust on IIlegal Firework Sellers
Six suspects were apprehended by the South Gate Police Department in their latest crackdown.

On Monday, July 02, 2012, the South Gate Police Department (SGPD) acting on information that it received from investigations on illegal firework sales within South Gate.
“Undercover officers made four separate purchases of illegal fireworks in four separate incidents,” said Captain Keith Hupp of the SGPD. “After each undercover operation officers arrested the suspects for sales and possession of illegal fireworks.”

According to Capt. Hupp, six suspects were apprehended in this latest bust, which bringing the total number of illegal firework sales related arrests, from the past few weeks, to 12.
Vehicles associated with the commerce of illegal fireworks were also confiscated by the SGPD.

“Three vehicles were impounded during yesterdays arrests,” said Capt. Hupp. “The fireworks were released to the Los Angeles County Fire Department for destruction.
The SGPD reminds all residents that only “safe and sane” fireworks, sold at licensed fireworks booths, are allowed on the 4th of July.
“Anyone caught in possession or lighting illegal fireworks will be either issued a citation or arrested,” concluded Capt. Hupp.
