Please join Senator Kevin De Leon, Los Angeles Councilmember Jose Huizar and The Veterans Project for our 2nd Annual Downtown Los Angeles Veterans Stand Down on Saturday, November 16 at the Vortex, 2341 E. Olympic Boulevard, just east of LA's Skid Row. This year we are excited to have South Gate High School's JROTC leading the Color Guard during our opening ceremony.
As you might know, Stand Downs provide health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment. Stand Downs are collaborative events coordinated between local VAs, other government agencies and community agencies which serve homeless veterans. You can see a list of our participating groups at: http://www.theveteransproject.org/2nd-annual-downtown-stand-down-111613.html
We are looking for volunteers for the day of the Stand Down as well as the day before.
