Students and parents might know South Pasadena resident Paul Kikuchi as “Mr. K,” substitute teacher. What they might not know is that Paul is also a playwright and that his latest play will be having its world premiere at East West Players (EWP), the nation’s premier Asian American theatre.
Wrinkles is a “slick comedy” (LA Times) about a mother and her 17 year-old son, who find out that Grandpa is an Internet sensation. But to view his material, they have to turn off the parental filter and have a valid credit card. Filled with innuendo, the content of this play is PG-16. This is Paul’s second play at EWP; his first play, IXNAY had its world premiere in 2009.
Wrinkles is directed by Jeff Liu and features Sab Shimono, Amy Hill, Elizabeth Ho, and Ki Hong Lee. All performances will be staged at the David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center for the Arts at 120 Judge John Aiso St., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
