It's always better to hear a sense of reasoning behind a comment. I mean when someone says something to me that is worth questioning, shouldn't there be a solid, sound answer? In other words, I like to know, why.
Like, when a woman recently complained to me about not feeling well. After going into immense detail about her stuffy nose and head congestion, I curiously asked her if she'd gotten her flu shot yet. Her reply was:
I don't believe in flu shots.
Why?
Because I don't believe in flu shots.
So, you believe in being sick?
That got her going, walked away and back to her desk.
Come on now, if you believe in something don't you stand firm in your convictions? I want to hear what’s behind that comment. We are adults here, can we have a civilized intellectual discussion without your emotions going haywire?
Then, she murmured something from the back of her head, I heard they are bad for you.
Oh, OK, that's the end of our discussion on flu shots. Although my knowledge didn't stand a chance in that conversation, I thought I'd write about it, then hopefully it will find its own place amongest the living.
The word influenza is derived from both Latin and Italian meaning, to influence. We live in L.A. people, who isn't out to influence you? What isn't out to influence you? More importantly, why are you allowing yourself to be influenced? That vial of Botox can potentially do more damage than a flu shot. I know, the holidays are always stressful, but when your immune system is weakened by tension and emotions, you can be influencing yourself. In addition to that, all those programs that have been downloaded yearly into each individual be they foreign or domestic, aren't all well balanced and pure. There can be some nasty airborne beliefs standing shoulder to shoulder with you in a crowded mall.
The majority of us aren't indigenous anymore. Although our DNA still holds the seed, we don't live in that environment today, there's too much going on; that's when a flu shot can be a very good asset. It can help you more than it can harm you. Not working for you? What else can you do to be more protective of being influenced?
I wonder if that woman would be willing to read, this or discuss it.
