DALY CITY, CA – One person was hospitalized and a total of five residents were displaced in a Thursday morning fire in Daly City, the North County Fire Department reports. The fire was reported at 2:22 a.m. in the 700 block of Higate Drive.

"The first arriving fire company found a 2-story, single family home with smoke coming from the front and rear of the home," fire officials said in a news release. "Fire companies made entry through the garage and rear of the home and found flames coming from the rear, first floor living unit."

Firefighters from six companies that responded then used hose lines to contain the fire to the first floor rear living unit, officials said. Heavy smoke damage was reported on the second floor.
