13 Best California Companies to Work For 'Health and Happiness': List

Many a wise soul will tell you it's important to have a good work-life balance. Easier said than done, right?

Though most may find it difficult to strike that perfect chord, some companies certainly make it much easier on their workers to take care of themselves. To help you find these sorts of companies, the publication Outside looked at hundreds of businesses across the nation that put a high priority on the employee.

The magazine recently released its annual "Best Places to Work" feature, narrowing it down to the top 100 for 2016.

"Fortunately, more companies are learning that healthier, happier people make for more creative, more productive workers, and they’re making big adjustments: incorporating nature into the office, offering travel stipends, providing support services like childcare, and, of course, stocking the fridges with beer," Outside says of its report.

To land on the list, the companies had to pitch themselves to Outside and employees were required to fill out surveys. Learn more about the methodology here.

The majority of the winning companies are located in Colorado, but 13 of the top 100 are right here in the Golden State. Below are the California businesses that landed a spot on this year's list, followed by their ranking:
