7 Displaced In South San Francisco Apartment Fire

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Seven people were displaced from their homes Saturday night when a two-alarm fire destroyed two apartments in a building north of downtown South San Francisco, fire officials said.

The fire, at 416 Miller Ave, was first reported about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Everyone inside the building escaped safely, said Battalion Chief Bryan Saenz of the South San Francisco Fire Department. Thirty-three firefighters from the South SF, San Bruno, Colma and North County Fire Authority departments battled the fire; one firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, Saenz said.

Firefighters were doing mop-up work as of 10:15 p.m. Saturday. The cause of the fire, Saenz said, has yet to be determined.
