Parliament Tutors Expands to San Francisco, CA

Adding Up To 20 Local Jobs; Bay Area Students Invited to Apply for Scholars Program

San Francisco, CA - April 20, 2012 – Parliament Tutors announced today that it has officially opened its services to the San Francisco public.  This official launch was preceded by a soft-opening to get acquainted with the local schools and students, as well as to get Parliament’s system and infrastructure in place.

In three years, the private, in-home and online tutoring and test preparation service has grown to over 600 tutors, offering services in 27 states and over 60 cities.  CNN Money recently covered Parliament’s growth and hiring obstacles in an online feature.

Parliament Tutors is also inviting Bay Area students to submit applications for its Parliament Scholars Program.  The scholars program is aimed at helping promising college and graduate school applicants, with financial need, reach their target scores.  The campaign was designed as a means of offering students from less affluent backgrounds the same advantages that their counterparts often attain from private test preparation.

Scholars are selected by a committee and are awarded up to sixteen one-on-one prep sessions. Each lesson is customized to meet the specific needs of that student.  “This campaign is a new way for us to help shrink the opportunity gap that hinders less advantaged students,” explains chief academic advisor Miriam Holt.  Interested students can apply for the program online.
