A new survey found that parents and children plan to spend as much, if not more, than they did last year for back-to-school supplies. What is your plan?

Are you ready to drop the big bucks on a stellar new binder? How about that stapler you have been pining for?
According to a recent national survey, despite higher prices from some retailers, back-to-school shoppers are not concerned with being thrifty this year.
The Deloitte national survey said that almost 90% of consumers plan to spend an equal amount or more on back-to-school supplies as last year.

Among those who plan to spend more this year, nearly 6 in 10 say will do so because of higher prices, and about a third say their kids need more expensive items than last year.
About 6 in 10 surveyed said they plan to create a budget before heading to the store. Seven in 10 parents said they expected their kids to spend at least $51 themselves, which was an 18% increase from lat year.

The survey also found that traditional media and word of mouth news will be the most important way for consumers to plan their back-to-school shopping this year, rather than social media.
Apparently, television will be the most important, followed by newspapers and friends.
The survey polled a sample of 1,134 parents of school-aged children and has a margin of error for the entire sample of plus or minus three percentage points.
