Body Found at Angel Island ID'd as Wouter Van Lier

The San Francisco man went missing Monday and was found near his boat.

The Marin County coroner’s office has confirmed that a body found Tuesday in Ayala Cove at Angel Island is that of Wouter Van Lier, a San Francisco man who went missing a day earlier.

Van Lier, 42, was last seen by his wife aboard the couple’s boat around 1 a.m. Monday. His body was found in 12 feet of water near the boat around 11 a.m. Tuesday and it was identified around 2:45 p.m., Tiburon police spokeswoman Laurie Nilsen said.

“No foul play is suspected. It appears to be a tragic accident,” Nilsen said.
