Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project
The Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project (PCEP) is a key component of the Caltrain Modernization program. The PCEP would electrify the Caltrain Corridor from San Francisco's 4th and King Caltrain Station to approximately the Tamien Caltrain Station. The primary purpose of the Project is to improve Caltrain system performance, reduce long-term environmental impact by reducing noise, improving regional air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. An electrified Caltrain system would better address Peninsula commuters' vision of increased service and improved travel times in an environmentally friendly and reliable way. This also is expected to help accommodate increase system ridership through improved system operations.
South San Francisco September 25 through October 1, Caltrain will be doing work during the night to prune and remove trees along the project route, locate underground utilities and remove project materials, and to construct one test pile foundation for integrity testing. Work hours will be 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and the field team will work as quietly as possible. Starting Monday, Sept. 25, parking spaces #46 to 74 at the South San Francisco Station will be blocked off to accommodate staging of material and equipment for the construction of the Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project. No Parking signage will be placed in the designated area that will be closed off to traffic. Please remove your car on Sept. 14 at 2 a.m. During night work hours at the South San Francisco station all passengers will board and de-board from the same platforms. Please look for the signs to indicate which platform to use.
If you have any questions, feel free to call the project hotline at 650-399-9659 or toll-free at 855-463-4373.
