Chevron Gas Station Fire in San Francisco Under Control: UPDATE

Images from the scene showed huge plumes of smoke coming from the Chevron on Howard Street.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Firefighters in San Francisco battled a fire at a Chevron gas station on Howard Street Monday, the San Francisco fire department wrote on Twitter.

The fire was under control at 3:03 p.m. Residents are asked to avoid the area while clean up is underway.

Several witnesses tweeted photos of the fire that showed thick black smoke coming from the location.
