DUI Suspected In El Camino Real Crash
Police say the driver was supposed to using a "functioning, certified ignition interlock device," but was not.

SAN BRUNO, CA — A 31-year-old Hayward man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after rear-ending a truck at a red light in San Bruno early Tuesday morning, police said.
Melguis Lemus allegedly rear-ended the other vehicle at the intersection of El Camino Real and Taylor Avenue around 12:10 a.m., according to police. Officials later released an image from the scene of the wreck, which is attached above.
"The driver that caused the collision...was found to have been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision," police said in a news release. "Lemus was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license, and operating a motor vehicle not equipped with a functioning, certified ignition interlock device."

He was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and no other injuries were reported in the crash.
