First Multiple Pier Implosion Event Of 2017 Of Old Bay Bridge: Caltrans Details How To Watch, What To Expect

The work will cause some issues around the Bay Area.

From Caltrans: In this Caltrans News Flash, we take you through the preparation for the first multiple pier implosions of the old Bay Bridge. The first of six events will be on Saturday, September 2, and we expect to complete the demolition of all 13 marine foundations by the end of 2017.

As always, safety and security are our priority. The Bay Bridge Bicycle/Pedestrian Path will be closed the week prior to the implosions, and the California Highway Patrol will use rolling traffic breaks to hold traffic as well as enforce restricted boating areas during the implosions. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) will hold trains from the Transbay Tube for 10 minutes prior to implosion.
